Our client is a leading provider of cutting-edge asphalt production machinery, committed to delivering innovative solutions to the construction industry. As they push the boundaries of technology in asphalt production, they are seeking an experienced Lead Control Systems Engineer to spearhead the development, implementation, and optimization of control systems for their state-of-the-art machinery.

Position Overview:

As the Lead Control Systems Engineer, you will lead a team of skilled engineers focused on designing and enhancing control systems for our asphalt production machinery. This role requires a deep understanding of automation, programming, and a commitment to pushing the technological envelope in the field of construction equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement advanced control systems for asphalt production machinery, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and other automation technologies.
  • Experience using Rockwell CompactLogix or using Red-Lion Graphite Terminals with Toshiba Unified Controller PLC.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of control systems engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to integrate cutting-edge technologies into the control systems of new machinery designs.
  • Conduct thorough testing, validation, and troubleshooting of control systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability in diverse operating conditions.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, applying this knowledge to drive continuous improvement in control system designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and electrical engineering, to ensure seamless integration of control systems with overall machinery design.
  • Experience using a variety of temperature and parametrising and commissioning other controllers such as West, Siemens, London Electronics and Danfoss.
  • Capable of producing CAD control panel schematics and liaising with the mechanical development team.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing control systems for heavy machinery, preferably in the construction or asphalt production industry.
  • Strong proficiency in PLC and HMI programming languages, with experience in motion control, robotics, and automation.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and lead a team of control systems engineers.
  • Solid understanding of industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements related to control systems in machinery.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
